Mehmet Kaplan is the Director of Centre for Equal Rights, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to offer legal consultation free of charge to individuals regarding issues of discrimination and raising awareness about discrimination through seminars, lectures and courses. He is also spokesperson for Swedish Muslim Council (SMR) which is the umbrella organisation for the major Muslim organisations in Sweden. He was previously president for Swedish Young Muslims (SUM). Mr Kaplan lectures and serves on panels, and is often featured in Swedish TV and radio. He is often quoted in the newspapers. Born in Turkey and educated in Sweden Mr Kaplan has recently worked within an educational NGO that work with sobriety and drug issues worldwide.
