Asma Society | American Society for Muslim Advancement

The American Society for Muslim Advacement (ASMA) is currently offering internship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate students, and recently graduated students.

At the very start of their tenure with ASMA, interns will be given serious responsibilities, and immediately begin to participate in tasks that require collaborative efforts across the selected intern group as well as full-time employees.

The ASMA internship program provides young professionals with the opportunity to gain substantive work experience in a fast-paced, high-profile NGO.

ASMA is a New York based nonprofit organization founded in 1997 to elevate the discourse on Islam and foster environments in which Muslims thrive. We are dedicated to strengthening an authentic expression of Islam based on cultural and religious harmony through interfaith collaboration, youth and women's empowerment, and arts and cultural exchange.

General Information

Internships are offered at ASMA during the fall, spring, and summer semesters and last for roughly 10 weeks (though they can be extended further). Academic credit may be awarded only if an agreement has been made between the organizations and the intern's college or university. All interns are subject to the applicable ASMA organizational policies. All internships are unpaid.

Specific qualifications vary by position, but interns should be registered at an undergraduate institution, enrolled in a graduate program, or be a recent college graduate.

Internship Positions Available

Internships are available in the Office of the Executive Director, through our Islamic Law program, Women's Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and Equality (WISE), and focus-areas of Media/Communications and Information Technology. Read more about available internship positions here.
