Important Announcement

The dates and location for the 2nd global WISE Conference are now confirmed! The 2009 conference will be held from Thursday, July 16 – Monday, July 20, 2009, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Participants will arrive on Thursday the 16th and depart Monday the 20th.
We have spent the past year on many different WISE-related projects, and we are extremely excited to finally gather together again!
Please note: In the coming months, conference sponsors and organizers will determine criteria for invitations. Because we are expanding the global participant base for WISE, unfortunately, we will not be able to invite all 2006 Conference attendees. Invitees will receive notice by May 1, 2009.

WISE on Aasiya Zubair Tragedy
"The Women's Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and Equality (WISE) condemns without reservation the brutal murder of Aasiya Zubair. Her death reminds us that in the United States alone, an average of three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends every day. Domestic violence has affected all of our communities, and it is our collective responsibility to eliminate all forms of violence against women. We pray for Aasiya's children and express our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. May God rest her soul in peace and let her death not be in vain."
