Dearest WISE members,

Last July WISE was excited to hold its second annual global conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which brought together more than 200 women from over 40 countries. The historic meeting led to the launch of the Muslim Women's Web portal, formal endorsement of the WISE Compact and the announcement of the Shura Council's first campaign: "Jihad Against Violence". At the convening WISE participants agreed to hold the next annual conference in Morocco the following summer.

We at WISE are eager to hold the third global conference in Marrakech, Morocco. This year's conference however will be held in October in order to capitalize on the exposure and activities of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, taking place in Marrakech at the end of October. Specific dates for the WISE conference have yet to be chosen, but will be sent out to the WISE community once selected, along with more details on our theme and agenda for this year.

We look forward to capitalizing further on the work and enthusiasm established at our last conference in Kuala Lumpur and on developing new strategies for expanding Muslim women's rights around the world.
