Daisy Khan Speaks at Yankasa Islamic Center

There are 64 mosques in the Bronx and 49 of those are African. The Bronx is home to 200,000 Africans.

Daisy Khan was a guest speaker at last week's Muslim Advisory Council's Promoting Understaning in Cooperation with NYPD event. The Muslim Advisory Council is promoting understanding and cooperation - fostering a climate of mutual respect and trust between the Muslim community and the NYPD.

CALL FOR STORIES: 'Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women'

Announcing a call for non-fiction/memoir/personal stories by American Muslim women on the search for love. These stories will be published in a book, Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women, by Soft Skull Press in February 2012.

Editors' Note: We will only be considering stories from African-American and Arab-American women at this time. Deadline: Monday, June 13, 2011.
