Dear Friends,

As Salaamu Alaykum.

Upon the commencement of Ramadan, we as individuals and organizations need to focus our thoughts and goals towards greater understanding and helping of all people regardless of their faith, culture and other barriers. While this is true of all times, we are asked to be particularly mindful of this in the holy month of Ramadan, which is a time for spiritual renewal, reflection, and charitable acts.

This is a time for people of conscience to wage peace and build bridges. At ASMA, we work to ensure that relationships between different communities grow and flourish. Within the last month, ASMA has been broadcasted by over 200 media outlets, in respect to the latest project of establishing a cultural center. Although the media and political pressures have increased and heightened considerably, ASMA society is ever-increasing their efforts at peaceful relations with the greater community.

Further, we would like to thank our supporters, from New York to the worldwide community. A special thanks in particular to Mayor Bloomberg who gave an impassioned speech in defense of our project and civil liberties. See his speech here:

We also recognize Newsweek writer and CNN host Fareed Zakaria’s generous statement regarding our project:

To meet the demands and daily developments of our projects we need the following: a strategic media plan, a center to host more events with opinion leaders for discussion on issues facing the Muslim community. We also have been reaching out and must continue to do so with our interfaith network.

Please help us the work we are doing to empower the next generation of Muslim leaders. We appreciate and value the continued support from our Muslim community and Imam Feisal and I would like to personally thank you for your support and recognition during this trying time.

With that said, ASMA society wishes everyone a most blessed month of Ramadan, one of renewal, reflection and rejuvenation. May it bring us all a chance to refocus ourselves to God, as well as our fellow brothers and sisters. Please keep us in your prayers and may God bless you and your families in this holy month.
